The Best Day Hike in the lower Lake Chelan Basin

This is the best day hike in the lower Lake Chelan Basin.   It is just a short thirty-minute drive from downtown Chelan.  The elevation gain is steady but not extreme.  And the views from the top are world class. The last portion of the hike is off-trail. Wear sturdy shoes.

MAP AND GUIDE

Here’s a simple map and a quick step-by-step guide to find your way there.  2.5 miles round trip.  1216’ Elevation Gain. Moderate hike.

Drive to Antilon Lake.

  1. You will pass a large earthen dam at the south end of the lake. Park along side of the road in the pull off.

  2. Walk across the dam to the west. The trail begins on the other side and angles up the hill to the north. (take a right at the fork)

  3. Follow the trail to the top of the bench. From here you can see the summit.

  4. Walk cross country (there is no trail) up through the grasses and trees to the summit.

  5. From the summit, descend to the loveliest forest park this side of Eden. You’ll see the view below from there.
